Home School Community Liason
Our School recognises the parent as the primary educator of the child. This is promoted through effective partnership where there is trust, respect, good communication and a shared vision for the child to reach his/her full potential.
Regina Davoren & Cathy Fleming are the Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Officers in Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maol. In the role, they will liaise with parents, teachers and other people from the locality. Their aim is to support you all to make sure that your children are happy here in Gaelscoil na gCeithre Maol Their primary role is to help strengthen the links that exist between home, school and community.
The goals of the HSCL scheme are:

To maximise active participation of the children in the learning process

To promote active co-operation between home, school and relevant community agencies in promoting the educational interests of children

To raise awareness of parents in their own capacities to enhance their children’s educational progress and to assist them in developing relevant skills

To enhance the children’s uptake from education, their retention in the educational system, their continuation to post primary education and their life-long attitudes to learning

To disseminate the positive outcomes of the project throughout the school system generally.
The role in school involves:

Visiting parents/guardians in their homes when possible.

Organising courses, talks or meetings for parents/guardians in the school on various topics that can help them with their children

Involving parents/guardians in their children’s education

Encouraging closer ties between parents/guardians, school staff and the wider community

Encouraging parents/guardians to participate in classroom projects with teachers, such as Maths for Fun and other Literacy and Numeracy Programmes.
