EU - NRRP - The Digital Divide

Gaelscoil na Ceithre Maol has received funding through the European Union's National Recovery and Resilience Plan to address the digital divide.

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has been developed by the Government to enable Ireland to access funding under the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility.

The aim of this funding is to help repair the immediate economic and social damage brought about by the pandemic and to prepare for a post-Covid Europe that is greener, includes improved digitalisation, is more resilient and fit to face the future.

This funding is specifically aimed at supporting learners who are at risk of educational disadvantage due to lack of access to digital technology.

With this aim in mind, Gaelscoil na Ceithre Maol is taking advantage of a grant we received to increase the digital resources for all our learners.

We aim to embed Digital Technology in our teaching and learning throughout the school.

With the Digital Divide grant, Gaelscoil na Ceithre Maol received from this fund, our school bought twenty new laptops and a charging trolley. The laptops support learners who are at risk of educational disadvantage as a result of the digital divide by giving them access to IT equipment they would not otherwise have.

We aim to embed Digital Technology in our teaching and learning throughout the school as well.

As part of our overall digital literacy plan we decided on the things that best suited our needs.

Everything we bought complied with Public Procurement Procedures.

We bought 20 new laptops and a loading trolley. We upgraded whiteboards and projectors in 3 classrooms to smart panels and bought 4 laptops for teachers.
